This is a screenshot from the updated Massachusetts Institute of Technology Auto-ID Center website in 2001. The Auto-ID Center created a standard called the EPC which is used by next generation barcode chips. These barcodes scan themselves and allow a wide range of additional applications including anti-theft, inventory, and authentication.

This version of the website focused heavily on usability and ease of use for people finding information on the site.
